The Divine Chemical started in late 2004 as the brainchild of guitarist/programmer Jim Wicked as a method to rebel against the current state of music. Rather than conform to any one genre, Jim developed a musical style which enveloped elements of metal, trance, and industrial. He and his spouse, Dez Wicked put together and perform a show for the music using stage theatrics reminiscent of Skinny Puppy, Gwar, Sleep Now Yes, and other such vile acts. In 2006, TDC was signed to Dark Corner Productions after which point, they created Comatose Insomniac, a powerful album which challenges the mind of the listener to accept a reality which has been blocked from their eyes by their own optimistic thought processes. Along the way, many have helped, including talented artists that have worked with Mentallo & The Fixer, Sleep Now Yes, and Facade just to name a few.
In 2007, Jim was committed to a mental health instution for depression and panic disorder. Upon his reemergence, he found a source of inspiration which had previously eluded him, and work was started on An Exploration of an Open Wound.
By the middle of 2008, the album was complete, but he had found the world a desolate place. And so, the album was published for free via this website, and The Divine Chemical was put to pasture.
